IT Consultation

Clear technology decisions from senior engineers who have shipped their own products.

IT consultation is the work that happens before anyone writes code. You bring a business goal, an aging system, or a product idea, and we help you decide what to build, what to buy, and what to leave alone. The output is a plan your team can act on: architecture choices, a realistic budget range, and a sequence of milestones.

You need this service when a technical decision is too expensive to get wrong. That might be choosing a stack for a new product, deciding whether to rebuild or refactor a legacy application, or evaluating a vendor proposal you do not have the in-house expertise to judge.

Our advice comes from engineers who build and run software every day, including our own products such as vsNEW and Trading Town. We give you direct answers, flag the risks we see, and stay available to help your team execute.

What's Included

  • Technology audit

A structured review of your current systems, code, infrastructure, and vendor contracts, with a prioritized list of what to fix, replace, or keep.

  • Architecture and stack selection

Recommendations for frameworks, databases, hosting, and integrations that match your budget, your team's skills, and your growth plans.

  • Digital transformation roadmap

A phased plan that moves you from manual processes or legacy tools to modern software without halting day-to-day operations.

  • Build vs. buy analysis

An honest comparison of custom development against off-the-shelf tools, including total cost over several years, not just the sticker price.

  • Vendor and proposal review

An independent read of quotes, contracts, and technical proposals so you can negotiate from an informed position.

  • Fractional technical leadership

Ongoing access to a senior engineer who joins planning meetings, reviews your team's work, and keeps projects on track.

IT Consultation FAQ

What does an IT consultation engagement cost?
Scoped assessments, such as a technology audit or a build versus buy analysis, are priced as fixed-fee projects once we agree on the deliverables. Ongoing advisory work is billed on a time-and-materials basis, usually as a monthly block of hours. After the discovery call we send a written quote so you know the cost before any work begins.
How does the engagement work day to day?
Most consultations start with a discovery call, followed by an assessment phase where we review systems and interview stakeholders. You get a written report and a working session to walk through it. If you want help executing, we can continue as advisors, build the solution ourselves, or support your team. All work happens remotely, with scheduled calls.
Do we have to hire Toor Technologies to build what you recommend?
No. The recommendations stand on their own, and you are free to take them to your internal team or another vendor. We write reports so that any competent engineer can act on them. Many clients do choose to continue with us, but the consultation is not a sales pitch for our development services.
Can you review a system that another agency built?
Yes. Independent reviews of existing code, infrastructure, and vendor relationships are a common reason businesses contact us. We will tell you plainly whether the system is sound, where the risks are, and what a reasonable fix would cost. You keep full ownership of the findings and can share them with your current vendor.
What should we prepare before the first call?
Bring a short description of your business goals, access to the people who know your current systems, and any documentation, contracts, or quotes you want reviewed. You do not need a technical background. We ask questions in plain language and translate the answers into a plan your whole leadership team can understand.
